The Group’s first presence in the country dates back to 1965 with exploration campaigns led by the SNPA.
1965, The SPNA explores Malaysia.
1985, S. International, a subsidiary of Elf Group specialized in the development and marketing of photovoltaic-powered equipment, signs an agreement with Malaysian radio and television.
1985, Petrofina establishes a joint venture in Malaysia with a regional producer of basic oleochemical products, hoping to open markets for its acid products in Southeast Asia.
1987, Petrofina acquires a fuel and lubricant distribution company in Malaysia, which sells under the Fina brand.
1988, In Malaysia, Elf Aquitaine renews the SK3 contract.
1990, Elf discovers gas on SK3 licence in Malaysia
1991, Elf Aquitaine decides to withdraw from Malaysia.
1993, In Malaysia, Coates (Total subsidiary) reaches an agreement with the Research Institute of Palm Oil Producers for the development of palm oil-based raw materials.
1996, In Glues, Bostik (Total subsidiary) takes over Plaskem’s PVC pipe glues business and creates a joint venture in Malaysia.
Today, Total is present in Malaysia, from oil and gas exploration to petrochemicals and solar to oil distribution.
